How I Did My MS English Literature

So, I was in Islamabad, doing my MS, which had two semesters, and I dunno why, but I can never do what I'm told to do. I mean I can study and all, but being directed isn't really my cup of tea. For the one-year coursework, I used to live in Hostel City, Chatha Bakhtawar, a famous place that accommodates thousands of students in hundreds and hundreds of hostels. I would, every night, buy some cold drinks, a pack of cigarettes, and some fries, popcorn, etc., and at my room watch movies or series from 10:00 pm till 7:00 am, then order breakfast which I would eat in bed while still watching movies, then I would sleep till 1:00 noon, get ready, and reach class at 3:00, which would end at 6:00 pm, and then repeat.

I had made some really good Kashmiri friends, Hasnat bhai, Shareef bhai, and Zain bhai, and we would hang out during evenings, sit at cafes, smoke, discuss, and so on. Each Sunday, we used to have a study circle, where Peer Jaan, a close friend of mine and a really beautiful soul, truly an intellectual, and Danish Yaseen, yet another sweet soul, and my dear friend Adil, a true Sindhi, sincere to his land, a man of passion and intellect, (I learned a lot from all of these people) we would sit together and discuss critical thinking, social problems, and stuff.

Coming back to the story, I didn't have a notebook or a pen, but I would attend all classes. So, we had to write a research paper for each subject, and a few days before the exam I would activate my crazy study mode, which meant I would start researching and writing the paper at 7:00 pm in the evening, keep writing, and keep writing, till it's morning, and then I would order breakfast in bed but still keep writing, and it would be noon, I would order lunch, eat it in bed, and keep writing. During breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I would watch one episode of Friends, so that was three episodes, and I would keep writing till it was night, and again I would keep writing till it's 12:00 am, and I would be done with the paper. I would sleep the whole next day and wake up at exactly 7 pm and start writing the next paper. So the whole semester, I would watch movies, run study circles, hang out with friends, and then two weeks before the semester ended, I would activate my crazy study mode.

Anyways, I topped my class in the first semester, and then in the second semester I came second, (Ha, that fits, first in first semester, second in second semester! Much like my whole education. I was in first standard in 2001, in second standard in 2002, and again in 12th standard in 2012. My first year at Shah Abdul Latif University, as student in Department of English was 2013. That makes it easy to remember too) and my friend Ali Khurram got the first. Meeting Ali Khurram was a journey, that's like a whole new story, a really interesting guy, an artistic soul. He writes jingles for advertisements and reads books, that's him. (He used to take me to bookstores all the time. We would smoke, check out books, buy books)

Anyways, coming back to the story again, I then had to write my thesis. I submitted the proposal, and as I always do everything at the eleventh hour, (I dunno why, but that's just my nature I guess, I am a lazy-ass that way) when the deadline reached and I was gonna lose my degree if I didn't do it, I did it in the last 10 days. But I got an A on my viva and thesis, which is nice, because during my BS Hons English I only got an A during my final viva, and otherwise I always was the guy who got a B, during my intermediate too, I was always a B grade student. But MS changed it.

This is how I did my MS.

Did I explore Islamabad?
Nope, on the last day Adil bhai got me to visit some spots, and he got quite angry that I hadn't visited anywhere the whole year except my room, Hostel City, and my department (I never even visited my own university). :D
Do I not like visiting places?
Nope, I am not a tourism guy, I am a serious couch potato, I just need a stable internet connection and a big smart TV, that's it.

I love discussions, study circles, and besides that, I am an introvert.
