The Day I Woke Up After My Exam Had Already Started

Here is a fun event. “Ah distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak December, when each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor,” as Edgar Poe would say it. I was watching romcoms all night while the next day I had a semester exam.

So, I woke up quite late. I mean, the exam had to start at 9:30 a.m., and I got up at 10:30. As I got up, as usual, with closed eyes I moved my hands around looking for cigarettes and then lit one. (Dangerous to health, don’t try it.) But, as I was saying, I started smoking and eventually I recalled that I had a paper that day. I got off the bed, took my shoes in my hands, and started running from my hostel to the campus, which was within walking distance but a bit far if you were walking.

Anyways, as I reached the exam room, the professor denied me access to the room since I was late. (He already hated me. I dunno why, but I am sure he did, as you would see in other events to come.)

So, I went to another teacher’s office, legendary Prof. Mike, who used to appreciate me as a student, regardless of my stupidities, and he got me into the paper.

As I remember, I did it in almost hardly 20 minutes. I used to be quite straightforward in answers. (That explains my average grades :D.) Like, I was watching the other day a video on IELTS prep where the trainer asks the other person, “How’s the weather in Mumbai?” and she says, “It’s good.” And he explains that you have to not just say it’s good, but go freaking beat around the bush for half an hour before coming to talk of the weather.

Well, I thought at the moment, I am never gonna pass IELTS, I guess.

Coming back to the story, I am not the guy who can beat around the bush for half an hour before answering the question. Though, it seems like professors all around the world do love quantity a loooot.

To sum up the story, I passed. :D
