Is Literature Still Relevant in the Digital Age?
L iterature has historically demonstrated an extraordinary capacity for adaptation because its essential function resides in the creation, preservation, and interpretation of human experience through language. The transition from manuscript culture to print culture transformed literary production; the emergence of mass publishing expanded readership; radio and cinema altered narrative circulation; and digital technology has introduced another profound transformation in the relationship among text, author, reader, and culture. The contemporary digital environment has consequently generated questions concerning the cultural position of literature, particularly as social media, streaming platforms, electronic publishing, algorithmic recommendation, videogames, podcasts, and artificial intelligence reshape everyday engagement with language.
