Perfume Terminology Sillage The scent trail you leave behind. How far the perfume projects into the air after you walk past. Strong sillage means people notice you from a distance. Soft sillage stays close to the skin. Projection How far the scent radiates from skin. The initial scent cloud around you in the first 30-90 minutes. High projection fills a room. Low projection is intimate (skin scent). Longevity How long the perfume lasts. From a few hours (EDT) to 10+ hours (extrait). Depends on concentration, skin chemistry, climate and application method.
