Sexual Autonomy and Personal Responsibility
Autonomy and responsibility get treated as opposites in everyday conversation, as though having more control over your choices means bearing more blame when things go wrong. The actual research draws the line somewhere else entirely, and getting that line right changes how people communicate, protect themselves, and treat each other. It means something more specific: feeling that your actions genuinely originate from your own values and choices, rather than being driven by pressure, obligation, or fear of consequence.
